As the temperature in Noida continues to drop, the survival of those less fortunate than taking shelter on the streets is becoming harder as the risk for hypothermia increases. Keeping this in mind, the Chetu Foundation organized six-day-long clothes and blanket donation drive across Noida to help those in need where Chetu employees donated clothes – jackets, sweaters, caps, blankets, and mufflers. In all, over 285 kgs of clothes (630 pounds) were collected and donated. In addition, Chetu Foundation also donated 300 new blankets to migrant workers and needy families. The drive was initiated on Monday, December 14th, where volunteers donated clothes in Sector 63 and nearby areas and concluded the drive on Saturday, December 19th, at Bambawar, Dadri, Gautam Buddha Nagar.
Chetu volunteers visited the village and found a huge population of migrant laborers and displaced refugees. Most of the adults that were encountered work as house help, and auto-rickshaw drivers, while the children work as cleaners to help support their families. With the aim to serve society for the better, Chetu Foundation will continue to organize such programs in the future too in order to help the less privileged sections of society.
