On June 20, 2020, the Chetu Foundation hosted a massive community relief effort in the Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh, India in support of local families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The foundation assisted around 250 families – roughly 1000 people – by providing a one-month Food Package for each family, and donating protective masks for each family member. Over 8,375 kg (18,464 pounds) of food was donated to the village. The Food Package consisted of the following:

  • 20kg of Aata (flour)
  • 5kg of Rice
  • 2kg of Daal (lentils)
  • 1kg of Masala (spices)
  • 5kg of Sugar
  • 500gm of Tea

The foundation also worked to support the local Chak Jamdara Government School by hosting a tree planting, where 50 new trees were planted in the area, and distributed over 200 t-shirts and notebooks to the students. Additionally, the foundation hosted a training session to educate the community on COVID-19 and what precautions they can take to stay healthy as India begins to reopen. Lastly, the foundation proudly donated funds to a local family to help them support their two children with school fees for the year.

The Chetu Foundation was built on the tenants of supporting local communities and is honored to play its part in helping those affected by the public health and economic burdens brought on by the COVID- 19 pandemic.
